About Lisa
My name is Lisa Devine and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology from UBC.
I am fortunate to have had a 20 year career working with children, youth, young adults, and families both in the community and the school system. I have provided support to those with mental health, relationship, and parenting issues as well as substance use concerns. I have particular experience working with lgbtq2ia+ youth. I am available to work with individuals, couples, families, and groups.
I deeply value the therapeutic relationship with those I work with. I honour the unique experiences each person has and firmly believe we are the experts of our own lives. I adapt my approach to support individual journeys and seek to create an environment of acceptance and understanding which will allow each person or couple to explore experiences and concerns and will contribute to positive change and enhanced wellbeing.
I have specific training in Emotion Focussed Therapy (EFT) which is a humanistic approach that helps clients develop a secure and vital connection to themselves and others. Viewing relational and individual distress through the lens of emotions and attachment theory, EFT offers a way to recognize and express emotional needs clearly.
I am also able to offer Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which helps clients acknowledge and accept the presence of difficult thoughts and feelings while encouraging the development of mindfulness and self-compassion skills to create a rich and meaningful life.
Please reach out by phone, text or email and I would be happy to connect.
